Like most six year olds, Christopher Gardener is a bright and playful child, full of energy. Children at this age have a wide imagination and continue to use it with most aspect of life. At this age stereotyping becomes part of life, girls are put into their group with the same sex and boys do the same.
Girls tend to stereotype into liking dolls and dresses, they then share this same interest with other girls and a game is formed and interaction occurs. Boys do the same but like their own type of toys, games etc, connections are made and friends are made. Differences between these two genders are shown through their friends and what interests they share.
Children at this age tend to connect to an inanimate objects e.g. blankets or toys, in Christopher’s case he connects to a superhero toy. A connection to an object is a similarity between the two sexes. To children this object holds great significance, comfort and protection. Chris carries his toy round everywhere, when he has time his imagination expands and the environment around him becomes another place, Imagination in yet another connection between genders at the age of six.
